Executive Director/Founder – Cary Bernstein
Cary Bernstein founded Spay Neuter Charlotte out of a profound personal concern about the number of homeless dogs and cats being needlessly euthanized in our region and belief that spay neuter was a tangible tool in addressing this problem.
She dove into the field of animal welfare after an over twenty year career as a development professional focusing specifically on fundraising in the non-profit sector.
Since Spay Neuter Charlotte opened in 2011 she has directed all of her attention and passion to fulfilling the clinic mission to provide services to the pet owners in the community who are in most need. It has been particularly gratifying to see the impact that Spay Neuter Charlotte has had in the community in the last five years. Having fixed over 60,000 dogs and cats and providing basic medical care to more than 15,000 patients and their owners. She is equally proud to work every day with a team of extraordinary people who are deeply committed to the pet owners who entrust Spay Neuter Charlotte with caring for their beloved family members who happen to be dogs and cats. The Spay Neuter Charlotte team is committed, enthusiastic, patient, loving and devoted to our cause, every day and for every patient.
Cary is married to Alan, mom to two two-legged children, Eli and Zoë and Boxer Great Dane mix Hazel, Terrier, Damatian mix Tillie, and three rescue cats named Leo, Delilah and Mel.
